The New York Times: Performers Nominated for Clive Barnes AwardThe Clive Barnes Foundation announced on Sunday the nominees for its fifth annual award honoring young dancers and actors. The dance nominees are Christopher Bloom of Ballet Hispanico; Russell Janzen and Harrison Ball, both of New York City Ballet; and Devon Teuscher of American Ballet Theater.

Broadway World: Ballet Hispanico Transforms Story BalletBallet Hispanico ventured into full length story ballet making for the first time last Saturday at the Apollo with Gustavo Ramírez Sansano's CARMEN.maquia. The sold-out, one night only event retold the story of Carmen, the free spirited and irresistible gypsy who captures the love of the army corporal Don José.

The New York Times: A Smoldering Gypsy's Smoldering Time, Down at the Old Bull RingMade in 2012 for the Luna Negra Dance Theater in Chicago, which is now defunct, the work [CARMEN.maquia] has been adopted by Ballet Hispanico as the first full-length narrative dance in that troupe's 44-year old history. At the Apollo Theater on Saturday, the company premiere met with ovations.

BALLET HISPANICO To Perform at the 24th Annual International Ballet Festival of HavanaBallet Hispanico will perform in Cuba’s International Ballet Festival of Havana on November 1-2, 2014 at 5pm. Highlights of the program include Asuka, a celebration of the music of Celia Cruz by Ballet Hispanico’s Cuban-American Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro, along with Sortijas (Cayetano Soto), Sombrerísimo (Annabelle Lopez Ochoa), and El Beso (Gustavo Ramírez Sansano). This engagement marks Ballet Hispanico’s first-ever performance in Cuba.

BALLET HISPANICO to Make Its American Dance Festival Debut at Durham Performing Arts CenterBallet Hispanico will perform for the first time at the American Dance Festival at Durham Performing Arts Center on June 20-21 at 8pm, with a special Children’s Matinee on June 21 at 1pm.
