Ballet Hispanico's current and former students have achieved extraordinary success in performing careers as well as in many other professions. Many are listed below; those who performed with the company are indicated by an asterisk. Alumni are encouraged to keep us up-to-date on their activities!

Caroline Alonso is currently in medical school at New York University and performing Mambo with the Karsima Dance Company.

Clyde Archer is a dancer with Nacho Duato's Compañ¡a Nacional de Danza. Recipient of the 1997 Presidential Scholar Award and an alumnus of Juilliard and LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts.

Amanda Aviles is a dancer of Flamenco Latino and La Santa Luz Dance Company.

Mary Baird is performing regularly with the American Bolero Dance Company where she participated in their inagural apprenticeship program in 2002. She has been featured as a soloist in performances with Gabriela Granados in New York City public schools and at La Nacional. In July 2004, she completed the Advaced Level Flamenco Dance Program in the Intensive Summer Course at the Cristina Heeren Foundation in Seville, Spain this summer.

Valerie Benitez Cruz was Administrative Director of the Ballet Hispanico School for ten years. Currently an administrator in the New Jersey public school system.

Rita Blandino chose to work in the nonprofit world, after graduating college, in the area of women's issues and held a job in a Harlem community center for battered elderly women. After the 911 attack, she decided to look into the DC area and began working with an agency called WEAVE, Women Empowered Against Violence, and is currently working in the DC Superior Court doing intake for civil protection orders. She plans to attend law school and also takes the time to volunteer as a dance instructor.

Linda Caceres Sims* is a dancer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Recipient of a Level II Award in modern dance from Ballet Hispanico and Honorable Mention in ballet at the 1994 Arts Recognition and Talent Search (ARTS), sponsored by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. Graduate of LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts.

Julissa Cadenillas began studying ballet, tap, jazz, and Greek folk dancing at the age of 5 and was introduced to flamenco at the age of 8. In 1990, she was awarded a scholarship to study at Ballet Hispanico. She was a member of the Student Company from 1990 to 1992. In July 2002 she was awarded a dance scholarship by the American Bolero Dance Company and performed at various NYC public schools during 2003-2004. Recently, Julissa performed in New Jersey with the Alborada Spanish Dance Theater from 2006-2007. She currently performs as a soloist in Connecticut with the Val Ramos Flamenco Ensemble and in New York City with the Flamenco group named Aaale!. She also teaches flamenco dance at Jem Latin Dance Studio in Long Island.

Luis Degracia is a dancer with the Dance Theater of Harlem Repertory Ensemble.

Michael DeLorenzo is currently starring in RESURRECTION BOULEVARD, a weekly drama on Showtime Cable Network. Starring roles in television series include Fox TV Network's series NEW YORK UNDERCOVER and ABC television series HEAD OF THE CLASS. Appeared on Broadway in WEST SIDE STORY and STREET HEAT, as well as in such movies as A FEW GOOD MEN, JUDGEMENT NIGHT, FATAL BEAUTY, FAME, FAST FORWARD, THE COUCH TRIP, PLATOON LEADER and POPI. Appeared on national television in CRIME STORY, O'HARA, THE TRACY ULLMAN SHOW, THE TONIGHT SHOW, THE BRONX ZOO, BREAKING THROUGH, MIAMI VICE and the 1985 GRAMMY AWARDS. Danced in numerous music videos including Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and Lionel Richie's "Dancing on the Ceiling."

Sara Erde recently choreographed CARMEN for the Washington Opera. She was principal dancer in the Metropolitan Opera's 1996 Franco Zeffirelli production of CARMEN both in New York and in the Japan tour and starred in the Classic Stage Company's production of ANOTHER PART OF THE HOUSE. Also appeared Off Broadway in THE ARABIAN NIGHTS at the Manhattan Theatre Club, BLOOD WEDDING, THE DEATH OF GARCIA LORCA and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM at the New York Shakespeare Festival, ROOSTERS at INTAR and DON JUAN OF SEVILLE at Classic Stage Company, THE CONDUCT OF LIFE at Circle Repertory Company and COLLATERAL DAMAGE at La MaMa. Appeared on national television in ABC After School Specials (JUST BETWEEN FRIENDS and leading role in EVERYDAY HEROES) and TOP OF THE POPS (BBC). Toured as a principal dancer with Maria Benitez Teatro Flamenco. Also danced with Jose Molina Bailes Espa񯬥s, with Fred Darsow Dance Company and as a soloist at the Flamenco Tablao "Los Gallos" in Seville, Spain.

Damaris Ferrer is the founder and director of her own company Bailes Ferrer, based in Davie, Florida. In 1997, directed and produced RONDA GITANA: A FLAMENCO & MIDDLE EASTERN JOURNEY for her company. Also danced with Flamenco Latino and toured the United States with Jose Molina Bailes Espa񯬥s.

Michelle Fleet grew up in the Bronx and began her dance training at the age of four. She attended Ballet Hispanico during her high school training at Talent Unlimited H.S. Ms. Fleet continued on to Purchase College, and in 1999 she received her B.F.A. in Dance. She has performed in works by Bill T. Jones, Merce Cunningham, Kevin Wynn, and Carlo Menotti. Ms. Fleet joined Taylor 2 in the summer of 1999. She made her debut with the Paul Taylor Dance Company in September 2002. In 2004 The New York Times called her a "noticeable newcomer."

Marcial Gonzalez* teaches dance for City Center's public school program. Appeared on Broadway in WEST SIDE STORY and MARILYN, as well as in the film version of ANNIE and the television series DIRTY DANCING. Toured South America and Europe with Violette Monte and appeared in Spain in A CHORUS LINE. Performed in numerous music videos including the award-winning "What's Love Got it Do with It" with Tina Turner.

Yvonne Hamilton Gutierrez is a member of the Flamenco Latino dance company and freelances for a Latin jazz and Brazilian band called STRINGBEANS. Director of flamenco program of Henry Street. Has choreographed for Flamenco Latino, La Santa Luz Dance Company, and a number of public school programs. Currently on staff at Borough of Manhattan Community College-Early Childhood Program.

Antonio Iglesias* appeared in the New York Shakespeare Festival's production of SANCOCHO. Also toured Spain in A CHORUS LINE and danced with the Eleo Pomare Dance Company.

Loida Iglesias performed on Broadway in SEESAW, CHARLIE & ALGERNON and A CHORUS LINE.

Jennifer Lopez has starred in numerous films, including ANGEL EYES, THE WEDDING PLANNER with Matthey McConaughey, OUT OF SIGHT with George Clooney, THE CELL, U-TURN with Sean Penn and lent her voice to the animated film ANTZ. Also starred in MONEY TRAIN with Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson. Also featured in the title role of the film SELENA with Edward James Olmos and with Jon Voight in ANACONDA. Appeared in the films JACK with Robin Williams and MY FAMILY/MI FAMILIA with Edward James Olmos. She has completed two albums, ON THE 6 and J. LO and has made her debut as clothing designer.

Priscilla Lopez created the role of Diane Morales in A CHORUS LINE and won a Tony Award for her performance as Harpo Marx in A DAY IN HOLLYWOOD, A NIGHT IN THE UKRAINE. Also appeared on Broadway in PIPPIN, COMPANY and NINE and Off Broadway in OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY, EXTREMITIES, VANITIES, KEY EXCHANGE and ANTIGONE IN NEW YORK, and worked on Paul Simon's musical THE CAPEMAN. Co-starred in the television series KAY O'BRIEN, M.D. Appeared in L.A. LAW and played opposite Lee Remick in the television movie, JESSIE.

Coco Pelaez* performed as a member of the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble.

Sandra Rivera* serves as a teaching artist for Primeros Pasos, Ballet Hispanico's education program. Has been a dancer-in-residence since 1988 with the Omega Liturgical Dance Company through the Cathedral of St. John The Divine. Choreographed and performed in CANTOS FLAMENCO MYSTICO at Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. Featured in the Off-Broadway production of Miguel Pinero's THE SUN ALWAYS SHINES FOR THE COOL. Performed as a guest soloist with Luis Montero in LA TRAVIATA and CARMEN. Worked as an assistant to choreog-rapher Pat Birch for EL BRAVO. Also performed and choreographed for the Fort Worth Ballet Concerto, Bronx Immigrant Museum, St. Paul the Apostle Church and El Museo del Barrio.

Anthony Rodriguez is the founder and artistic director of the La Santa Luz Dance Company in New York and toured with Madonna on her DROWNED WORLD TOUR. Performed his flamenco solo in New York City in the summer of 2001.

Jaime Roque is currently the Director of Operations and Technical Director for Sarasota Ballet of Florida. Danced with Ballet du Nord in France and Cleveland Ballet.

Ricky Santiago has performed in Franco Zeffirelli's productions of CARMEN and LA TRAVIATA at The Metropolitan Opera, DON GIOVANNI at Washington Opera, Ballet Hispanico of New York, Bailes Ferrer and has appeared numerous films and music videos including Alanis Morissette's HAND IN MY POCKET. Ricardo has Performed as a soloist with Carmen Rubio, Sol y Sombra, Flamenco Latino, Alborada Spanish Dance, Carlota Santana, M'oro Flamenco, Flamenco Ole, Danzas Españ¯¬¡s, Flamenco Sepharad and Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton, NY where he also served as Choreographer for their Production of Carmen.  Ricardo Santiago has taught Master classes all over the US, most recently at Bucknell University. He is a teacher at The Children's Arts And Science Workshops and has taught in many outreach programs in the Tri-State area.

Lance Sherman
graduated LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts and Julliard, and danced for one year with BalletMet Columbus. Continued to perform in Las Vegas, Nevada, dancing NOTRE DAME DE PARIS at the Paris Hotel and STORM at the Mandalay Bay Resort. Currently in Belgium rehearsing for Celine Dion's new show, scheduled to open March 2003 at Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas.

Abigail Simon is currently performing with the ABT Studio Company.

Michelle Smith Juilliard Graduate. Graduate of LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts and a recipient of the 1999 National Artists Recognition Award.

Leelee Sobieski has starred in HERE ON EARTH, JOAN OF ARC, NEVER BEEN KISSED and EYES WIDE SHUT. Also starred in DEEP IMPACT, SQUELCH and A SOLDIER'S DAUGHTER NEVER CRIES. Appearances on television series include GRACE UNDER FIRE, F/X: THE SERIES and NEWS RADIO. Golden Globe and Emmy nominee.

Jose Suarez* danced with the Castle Opera Ballet Company in Germany. Performed in Paris with Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico and for the closing gala of the 1986 Liberty Celebration.

David Ticotin has worked as an assistant director on such films as CONTACT, AUSTIN POWERS, STAR TREK - FIRST CONTACT, and TRUE LIES.

Nancy Ticotin* worked on Paul Simon's musical THE CAPEMAN. Appeared as a guest artist with the New York City Ballet in Jerome Robbins' WEST SIDE STORY SUITE. Featured on Broadway in DAMN YANKEES, JEROME ROBBINS' BROADWAY, WEST SIDE STORY and THE KING & I. Starred Off Broadway in A...MY NAME IS STILL ALICE. Appeared in the movies RANSOM, SALSA, THE WIZ, ROADHOUSE, EDITH & MARCEL and FORT APACHE, THE BRONX, and on national television in ONE LIFE TO LIVE, KNOTS LANDING and LAW AND ORDER.

Rachel Ticotin* is currently appearing on AMERICAN FAMILY. Appeared with Nicolas Cage in CON-AIR. Also starred with Andy Garcia in the film STEAL BIG STEAL LITTLE, Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall in FALLING DOWN, Arnold Schwarzenegger in TOTAL RECALL, Paul Newman in FORT APACHE, THE BRONX, Richard Pryor in CRITICAL CONDITION and Michael Keaton in ONE GOOD COP. Appeared as Grace Pavlik in the television series FOR LOVE AND HONOR. Danced in the movie KING OF THE GYPSIES. Starred in the television series CRIME AND PUNISHMENT, O'HARA and the television movies LOVE, MARY and PRISON STORIES: WOMEN ON THE INSIDE.

Nelida Tirado recently starred as the Flamenco solist in RIVERDANCE. Performed in the Metropolitan Opera's production of CARMEN in the fall of 1996. Performed as lead dancer with Carlota Santana Spanish Dance as part of Lincoln Center Institute's 1997-98 repertory season. Also performed with Maria Benitez Teatro Flamenco, Fred Darsow Dance Company, Eddie Torres Dancers and Jose Molina Bailes Espa񯬥s. Received a 1997-98 Artist in Residence grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts for her work in the Claremont Community School (Bronx County).

Yzaura Vanegas performed in a production of the Spanish operetta LA DOLOROSA at the Thalia Spanish Theatre.

Annette White* performed with Rush Dance and Elisa Monte Dance Company.
