Director, Development

Amy Shaw is a senior executive and consultant with over 20 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and communications. Joining Ballet Hispánico marks a meaningful realignment of her career with her lifelong passion for dance and the performing arts.

Growing up in rural New Hampshire and as a college student in Washington, D.C., Amy was actively involved in dance, music, and theater. After studying International Affairs and Art History at The George Washington University, she moved to New York City to pursue a graduate degree at New York University.

Her career spans two spheres: the arts and humanities, and social justice and human rights. Early on, she worked in art galleries and museums and began her development career at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in 2001. Later she founded and managed a gallery in Brooklyn and served as a fundraising advisor to Brooklyn-based choreographer Rebecca Davis Projects. More recently, she focused on social impact work at research and policy organizations like Innovations for Poverty Action and JUST Capital, as well as in her role as a development strategy specialist with the consulting firm Orr Group.
