Los Explorers Camps are the passport to discovering Latino cultures. Campers will have fun moving their way through varied and diverse dances, songs, artwork, and landscapes, while traveling through Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. This is perfect adventure camp for both boys and girls — join us for this multi-sensory journey of the rhythms, stories, and wonders of these featured countries!

Explorer Camps take place Monday-Friday and encompass creative dance, arts & crafts, cultural dance, and music & songs. These globetrotters graduate inspired by this artistic immersion with enhanced skills in socialization, independence, and self-confidence, returning to the world as stronger citizens. A little bit of everything and a whole lot of fun, campers culminate in an open-studio showing for loved ones to witness and celebrate their Explorer’s journey.

PROGRAMS

Week 1: July 6-10 | The Caribbean

Every island in the Caribbean has its own special flavor, with diverse landscapes and wildlife, intriguing rhythms, and beautiful artwork. This week we will adventure with the Taino people, salsa through the streets of Santiago de Cuba, merengue across the beautiful island of Hispaniola, and let the drums take the lead as we dance the bomba in Puerto Rico.

Week 2: July 13-17 | Spain

Come and fall in love with Spain! Students will explore the diversity of Spain’s culture in a journey through the various regions of the country and discover dance forms including folklore, danza estilizada, and flamenco. Uncover interesting facts about Spain’s geography, history, food and famous citizens while we learn about its culture, art, and festivals. Explorers will be mesmerized as they step into the world of Spanish Dance, moving to the beautiful sounds of the guitar, the rhythmic quality of the palmas & zapateado, and working with the Spanish fan, all led by special guest artists!

Week 3: July 20-24 | Venezuela

Discover the wonders of Venezuela, from the magnificent waterfalls tumbling off table top mountains to the Orinoco Delta teeming with wildlife. Campers will explore the Catatumbo lightning phenomenon, Los Llanos with countless capybara and crocodiles, and the National Pantheon in Caracas. They will dance to the beat of the Joropo as they delve into the art, music and dances that shape everyday life in Venezuela!

TESTIMONIALS

"I think you have a real jewel of an idea in surrounding the children not only with the dance and music of a place, but also with a real sense of adventure and love of other cultures. When we walked into Miss Lana's studio yesterday to the sound of coquis, it truly felt like we had left NYC and traveled to Puerto Rico. I believe many parents would love nothing more than to instill a love of travel and respect for other cultures, and I have seen no one teach it the way Ballet Hispánico does.”
