Arts in Education
Community Arts Partnerships (CAP) allow students and audiences to widen their perspectives of dance and culture while celebrating the rich diversity in our community’s heritage. CAP brings the enjoyment of Latino dance traditions to over 20,000 children and family members nationwide every year.
What We Offer:
In-School and After-School Residencies - Our residencies explore social or traditional dances from Latin America, Spain and/or the Caribbean. We offer a cultural context related to the dance form, a curriculum integration project, and a culminating event open to the community.
Workshops and Dance Classes - These sessions are tailored for each partner’s needs, including programs targeted to early childhood, families and senior citizens. Workshops can focus on social or traditional dances from Latin America, Spanish and/or the Caribbean, in addition to theatrical dance forms, such as ballet, contemporary or modern dance.
Performances for Young People - Our community performances take audiences on a guided journey through Latin-American dance and music. This interactive, fun-filled exploration features excerpts of the Ballet Hispánico’s repertory. Latin music and cultural connections, choreography insights, and dance history come together to deepen the audience’s experience of dance.
Mi Casa es Su Casa - Our tour visits welcome groups to Ballet Hispanico’s premises. The experience includes: a Bienvenida, where visitors learn about the organization’s history, a dance experience, and the opportunity to peak into Ballet Hispanico’s second company’s BHdos rehearsal.
CAP programs draw from the New York City Department of Education’s Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts: Dance Grades PreK-12.
