At Ballet Hispánico, we honor Latinx dance and culture through our work each day. Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15) enables us to showcase our heritage with great pride, highlighting the many contributions our vibrant community and artists have made and continue to make to this country.  

As the nation’s largest Latinx dance organization and one of America’s Cultural Treasures, we’re excited to announce the following lineup of performances and events in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. This year’s robust roster of entertaining and engaging programming is sure to delight audiences and communities in the United States and Canada, including this year’s Celebración Latina

Buscando a Juan Panel Discussion

September 12, 2023

On Tuesday, September 12, Ballet Hispánico  and MetLiveArts  co-hosted a panel discussing Buscando a Juan, a new work choreographed by Eduardo Vilaro and inspired by The Met’s Juan de Pareja, Afro-Hispanic Painter exhibition. The panel featured Limor Tomer, Lulu C. and Anthony W. Wang General Manager, MetLiveArts; Vanessa K. Valdés, Co-Curator of the Juan de Pareja, Afro-Hispanic Painter exhibition; and Eduardo Vilaro, Artistic Director & CEO of Ballet Hispánico. Watch the panel discussion from September 12!

Stonewall Diálogos

September 19, 2023

Ballet Hispánico's signature conversation series exploring the interconnections of the arts, social justice, and Latinx cultures, returns with Stonewall Diálogos: Creating Safe Spaces Celebrating LGBTQIA+ Latinx Heritage. This annual event will take place on Tuesday, September 19 at the Stonewall Inn, 53 Christopher Street at 6:00pm. To reserve your spot, register here.

Virtual Performance for Young People (PYP)

September 27, 2023

Continue the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration by engaging in a virtual PYP! PYP’s take audiences on a guided journey through Latinx dance and culture. This interactive, fun-filled performance features excerpts of the Ballet Hispánico repertoire narrated by Ballet Hispánico’s Chief Engagement and Inclusion Officer, Tamia Santana. Music, cultural connections, choreographic insights, and history will come together to deepen the audience’s experience of dance. The video recording will be available on September 27. 

Indigenous Peoples' Day Virtual Celebration

October 9, 2023

Join Ballet Hispánico as we celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day by honoring Indigenous Enterprise, a Native American collective founded in 2015 and based in Phoenix, Arizona. The virtual celebration will feature their concert at Lincoln Center, followed by a conversation between Kenneth Shirley, Founder and CEO of Indigenous Enterprise, and Tamia Santana, Ballet Hispánico’s Chief Engagement and Inclusion Officer. The video recording will be available on October 9, courtesy of Indigenous Enterprise and Lincoln Center. 

Celebración Latina

October 15, 2023

This year’s community celebration, Celebración Latina, will take place on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 1:00pm - 5:00pm. Family members of all ages are invited to join the celebration on Ballet Hispánico Way at West 89th Street from Amsterdam Avenue to the front door of Ballet Hispánico’s headquarters for live music, dancing, and food from local vendors on the street and, inside the headquarters, for performances by the professional Company and students from the School of Dance, free dance classes, and so much more!
