2020 Summer Intensive

 

Levels: Intermediate to Advanced

Ages 11-23
3-Week Program: July 13 - July 31

Ballet Hispánico’s pre-professional Summer Intensive challenges students to strengthen their classical technique, experience contemporary forms, and develop professional skills through specialized forums — all through a multicultural lens at America's leading Latino dance organization.

Classes include
Ballet, Spanish Dance Series, Hip-Hop/Jazz/Musical Theater, Stretch & Conditioning, Contemporary/Modern.

Plus

Forums and watch parties.

Audition required. No live auditions are scheduled.

Students should submit a video audition no later than Monday, June 22, 2020 by 12pm noon ET.

IMPORTANT

Students MUST have internet connection and a device to participate in class.

Students must be of age by the program start date.

Any child who feels their child is ready to participate but does NOT meet the age requirement should be connected with the School of Dance through school@ballethispanico.org.

Students may participate in the full three-week program, any two weeks, or any one week.

Three Weeks: $725.00
Two Weeks: $525.00

One Week: $325.00

SPANISH DANCE SERIES ONLY
Three Weeks: $150.00

Per Week: $65.00

FINANCIAL AID

All students who audition for Summer Intensive will be considered for a Nuestro Futuro Scholarship, a merit-based scholarship program designed to support passionate young artists that are serious about their dance training. To learn more about the Nuestro Futuro Scholarship Program, click here.

Financial Aid Scholarships are also available to those who qualify. Financial Aid Scholarship applications are part of the program registration form that will be provided to you upon acceptance.

FAQs

AUDITIONS

When will I be notified if I am accepted into the Summer Intensive?
Students will be notified via e-mail of acceptance into the Summer Intensive one to two weeks following the audition.

REGISTRATION

Is my spot in the Summer Intensive guaranteed if I am accepted?
Students will need to register and make a deposit to secure their place in the Summer Intensive.

When can I register?
Students can register as soon as they are accepted into the program. Students will receive a registration form along with their acceptance e-mail.

If accepted into the Summer Intensive do I need to attend the full three weeks?
Students may sign up for one, two, or three weeks of the program.

What is the schedule like?
Daily classes are from 12:00pm - 5:30pm ET and will include Ballet, Spanish Dance Series, Hip-Hop/Jazz/Musical Theater, Stretch & Conditioning, Contemporary/Modern.

How are students placed in levels?
Students will receive their level placement on the first day of classes. Placement is subject to change at the discretion of the School Director.

What is the last day to make payments toward tuition?
The final day to make tuition payments is Friday, June 26, 2020. If you have questions or concerns regarding payments, please feel free to contact the School at school@ballethispanico.org to make financial arrangements.

DRESS CODE POLICY

All CLASSES

Ladies: Any style solid black leotard (no color-piping/design).

Gentlemen: White or black fitted t-shirt or tank. Dance Belt (quilted recommended).

BALLET, PRE-POINTE/ POINTE

Ladies: Flesh tone (transition) tights. Flesh tone ballet & pointe shoes. Solid black wrap skirt (optional). Note: Pointe shoes are allowed ONLY for students with previous pointe experience.

Gentlemen: Black jazz pants. Black flamenco boots or hard-soled shoes. Castanets (required for dancers experienced in the form).

SPANISH DANCE

Ladies: Black flamenco/character ankle-length skirt. Black flamenco shoes (character shoes permissible). Castanets (required for dancers experienced in the form)

Gentlemen: Black jazz pants. Black flamenco boots or hard-soled shoes. Castanets.

CONTEMPORARY FORMS, STRETCH & CONDITIONING

Ladies: Black (worn over leotard) or flesh toned convertible (transition) tights. Bare feet.

Gentlemen: Black jazz pants or solid black leggings. Bare feet.

OPTIONAL RECOMMENDED ITEMS:

Stretch & Conditioning - Yoga Mat, Stretch Band.

Shoes/Items for Contemporary Forms Classes Offered - Sneakers (Hip-Hop), Socks (Contemporary).

Ballroom/Character Shoes (Salsa), Jazz Shoes (Jazz/Lyrical), Sweatpants (hip-hop).
