Bernard Schaller
Guitarist
Bernard M. Schaller is a guitar accompanist and became interested in flamenco after seeing Antonio Gades and his flamenco company at the New York World’s Fair in 1964. He was fortunate to come in contact with the legendary guitarist Mario Escudero. Mr. Escudero had recorded several solo guitar albums. As it turned out, Bernard’s first flamenco album was of Mario Escudero. Some years later, he began to accompany flamenco dance classes at Ballet Hispánico in 1986, as well as for dancers Mariquita Flores, Maria Alba, and Jose Molina. Over the years, Bernard played at several local restaurants in Manhattan and performed at senior centers in New York and New Jersey.
