
Layzabeth Gonzalez

Born and raised in the Mexican-American border town of Brownsville, TX, Layzabeth Gonzalez is a movement artist and dance educator committed to challenging barriers and systems that prevent equity, agency, and diversity within the dance field. Gonzalez received her BFA in Dance from Sam Houston State University in 2019. During her collegiate career she attended the Gus Giordano College-Pro Intensive in Chicago, worked as a summer program teaching assistant and production intern for Ballet Hispanico in New York City, and participated in Ballet Hispanico’s ChoreoLab. In the fall of 2019 Layzabeth moved to Chicago where she joined the Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Education and Community Programs as a residency teaching artist and later became an administrative fellow supporting the development of Hubbard Streets E-Learning curricula over the pandemic. Additionally, she is a member of the Latinx Dance Educators Alliance and alumni of the David Herrera Performance Company national mentorship program: LatinXtensions. Layzabeth is excited to return to Ballet Hispanico as a faculty member and Administrative Assistant for the School of Dance.
