Katherine Acosta was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida. She graduated this past spring from Florida State University, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance. There, she had the honor of working with today’s leading choreographers; Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Gwen Welliver, Ilana Goldman, and Caleb Mitchell. She began her early ballet training with the Sarasota Ballet School under the direction of Margaret Barbieri, followed by her contemporary dance training at Booker High School’s Visual and Performing Arts program, with Melissa Lodhias the Artistic Director. Acosta has attended summer programs and workshops at Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Jacob Jonas the Company, The Sarasota Ballet School, and Sarasota Contemporary Dance Company. During her time at Florida State University, Acosta joined the Dance Theater of Harlem team when she was offered an internship position in 2022, there she was given the chance to meet art leaders, teachers and gained work experience in the dance community. Katherine hopes to continue her dance training and development as a professional artist
